Day one

Atlast, i have come to a conclusion. CAT or GMAT? GMAT. Still, unclear of the B schools i would apply. Another important question is - where does all the money for the education come from? I am not bothering about it much at present. Yesterday, a friend briefed me that the reason many internation schools prefer international students is not the diversity but the fees which is double for foreign students. If that is the reason, it would be hard to get financial aid no matter how well is your application. So, it is safe not to depend on financial aid while planning for finance. Safe ??? safe in what sense :) As i said i am not going to bother about this at present.

I took a test yesterday. Score 435.
Field Correct Wrong
Data Sufficiency 9 6
Problem Solving 16 6
Critical Reasoning 4 8
Sentence Correction 8 7
Reading Comprehension 9 5

Good start isn't it? :) There are many positives in the test.
1. I was able to sit for the whole test.
2. The test suggested i was thinking my strengths and weakness's in the just opposite way.
3. Usually i had to fantacize to get my sleep. This time it was not required. meaning i am ready for the game with focus.
4. I am not afraid of the failure. Be it 640 or 800. I would try to give my best shot.

Road ahead... for this week.
1. Need to book slots in Sep first week. Sep 1, 2 or 3.
2. Narrow down the schools as far as possible.
3.. Need to chart out a good plan with the help of GMAT guide Iday. I am ready to call him mentor. Only that it would increase his age. thats why guide Iday. nice term isn't it?

    Okie guide here :)
first advice - get some better blog theme man. The greem looks odd :)

Here are the issues i see:

    1. No taking test when unwell - it is not a clear reflection of ur abilities.

    2. Fin aid is extremely difficult to be offered to international students. You might very well try - but that i not a factor u shud consider when u sketch ur plans. Loans, on the other hand, are a better option me thinks.

    3. Get ur math working first of all. That shud be the easy part coz i guess u r making silly mistakes. Math is simpler, the primary scoring area and is to be worked close to perfection to give u a 50 score. Making mistakes in PS is unpardonable. DS is tricky - but u gotta get used to the GMAT way of DSing :)

    4. CR seems to have some trouble. Work with Kaplan and Princeton books and their strategies will help a big way in this. You seem to be doing "okay" in SC - but u shud still improve. The same 2 books again. RC is fine, i see some lack of concentration for those 5 mistakes.

    5. Overall 435 is primarily coz u lost it in math and Verbal. So MI,02 will be to get all working in Math. Once u guarantee a 50 in math, the scores cannot go lesser than 600.

    6. Then comes the diff part - working with Verbal. That's a long story. Some other time :)

Good start da. All the best.

    1) What's the test material u wrote da?

It is quite possible that it may be tougher than GMAT exam? So, scoring 450 may be equivalent to scoring 650 in the final exam?!

    2) How are u preparing for SC and CR? Can u post some of the links and downloads that are/were using? It might prove useful to others.

    3) The essays should be of what length? Say 500 words?! I browsed the OG, it didn't say anything abt the length of the analysis essays but there could be some unwritten rule abt these stuffs?!

OfCourse, it's not fair to tamper ur blog, which is least relevant to ur post.
